Paper.io

Paper.io is a multiplayer .io game that you may play by controlling a coloured block and trying to claim as much land as you can. One false move and you could be helping build your empire or leaving yourself up for elimination. How large can you grow your territory?

How to Play Paper.io

At the beginning of each match, you start with a tiny amount of land already under your control. This is your safe place. Travel your block outside of your current area. Your block leaves a trail of colour behind it as it moves. Connect to your existing territory to build a closed loop and claim the region inside.

Each successful loop you make raises your total territory size and hence moves you up the rankings.

The bigger the loop, the more land you take. But if your travelling track is touched by opponents, you can be eliminated. You are still vulnerable until you go back to your own land. The further away you are from your own land, the more chance there is of being killed.

You can also attack other players by waiting for them to leave their territory and intercepting their exposed trail (touching it before they can reattach it to their land).

Kill another player instantly by successfully severing their trail.

Tips to play Paper.io

Early Stay Close to Your Base

Don't make large loops in the beginning of a match. Small expansions give you the chance to build a safe space before taking bigger risks.

View Nearby Enemies

Always be aware of players on your borders. Many times players become eliminated because they focus so much on expanding that they disregard hazards nearby.

Attack Low Level Players

If you see an opponent laying a long trail, try to cut it. It is often more profitable and safer to get rid of a competition than to expand your own territory.

Protect Key Areas

It’s the big areas that get noticed. Secure vital portions of your country and ready yourself for attackers.

Avoid Greedy Expansions

If you try to take big territories in one go, you generally get wiped out. The wise long term plan is often controlled expansion.
